Japan is situated in the north east part of Asia. It is called the land of rising sun. It consists of four major islands called Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Hokkaido and about 4000 small islands. There are some exotic locations which are worth visiting for anyone interested in Japan vacations.
The capital and the largest city of Japan is Tokyo and is one the best vacation destinations of Japan. There are many exciting things to do there. Shopping is the main attraction and the best shopping district is Ginza. There are also a number of temples in Tokyo and Asakusa Kannon Temple is the oldest and most famous temple.
Kyoto is another destination to be visited. It is the old capital and traditional heart of Japan. There are a number of historical spots which spell out the Japanese elegance. There are two very famous temples in Kyoto called Kinkakuji which is a Golden temple and Kyo Mizu Dera which is a temple on the hill.
Hiroshima is another favourite destination. It is a 4 hour train ride from Tokyo. You can see the memorial site of the atomic bombing that took place in 1945 in Hiroshima at the time of World War 2. There is also a museum which will provoke your thoughts. The place is especially memorable for people who like to know about history.
Another place to visit in Japan is Nara prefecture. In Nara you can see the world’s largest Buddhist temple which is made of wood. It has a large bronze statue of Lord Buddha. This place is also recognized by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites.
Mount Fuji in Japan is a must see. It is the highest mountain in Japan and is also worshipped as a sacred mountain. Mount Fuji is actually a dormant volcano. It can be seen from Tokyo or Yokohoma on clear days.
